On April 25, 2017, New Yorkers from across the city gathered for City Harvest’s Evening of Practical Magic gala to honor supporters whose efforts have played a significant role in the fight against hunger. The gala was hosted to honor supporters whose efforts significantly impacted City Harvest’s fight to end hunger in New York City. Many familiar faces were among the honorees including Board member Michael Evans and his wife Lise with the Harry and Misook Doolittle Heart of the City Award; Food Council Chairman Geoffrey Zakarian with the Mnuchin Family Award for Excellence; Chelsea Clinton, Vice Chair of the Clinton Foundation, with the City Harvest Award for Commitment; and Food Bazaar as Food Donors of the Year.
Martha Stewart, Chrissy Teigen, and Donna Shalala presented these awards, along with host Zac Posen, actress Bridget Moynahan, Sirius XM radio host and actress/comedienne Sandra Bernhard.
Throughout the night, the attendees stayed refreshed thanks to a constantly manned bar and the assurance that there would be no shortage on cups and drinks.
The celebrations were brought to a close with a special live performance by Ja Rule and the knowledge that we were all part of something greater, raising $2.7 million, enough to feed over 9,860 families in New York for the entire year.
